Optical Illusion On Side of Building – Not straight lines.

Check out the side of this building. The architects have implemented a famous optical illusion to dress up the side of the building. Sometimes, on the Internet, this is called the Cafe Wall illusion, because one of the first pictures depicting this optical illusion was in the tile on the outside of a small cafe.

The effect of the illusion is this: The lines are all absolutely straight, however since the the black and white checkerboard is slightly staggered, as you look at the side of the building, you can’t help but think that the lines aren’t straight.

Wouldn’t it be fun to work in a building like this? I think so. This will have to be the new world headquarters for Cool Optical Illusions!

Wow! I can hardly believe these lines are straight. I know the illusion on paper, but in this photo, it looks so unbelievable. I wonder if you saw it in person if the lines would look straight.
